Common Moffat Error Codes

Is your Moffat appliance displaying an error code? Find out what it means and how our Toronto technicians can help.

Range Error Codes

Error CodeMeaningDescription & Solution
F2Range / oven over-temperature.The oven exceeded the set temperature. The temperature sensor and the control relay need diagnosis; a stuck relay can overheat the cavity.
F3Range / oven temperature sensor open. The oven temperature sensor is open so the oven cannot regulate heat. The sensor and its wiring need testing; replace if out of specification.
F4Range / oven temperature sensor shorted. The oven temperature sensor is shorted so the oven cannot regulate heat. The sensor and its wiring need testing; replace if out of specification.
F9Range / oven door lock fault. The self-clean door lock motor or latch switch has failed. The latch assembly needs replacement.
F1 / F7Range / oven control or stuck-key fault. The oven control board has an internal error or a keypad button is shorted. Free any stuck key and power-cycle the range at the breaker; if the code returns the control board or touch panel needs replacement.

Washer Error Codes

Error CodeMeaningDescription & Solution
E22Washer fill fault. The washer did not fill within the expected time. Verify both supply taps are open and clean the inlet valve screens; replace the inlet valve if faulty.
E23Washer flood / drain.Water has been detected in the base or the washer cannot drain. Clean the pump filter, clear the drain hose, and verify the drain pump runs; replace the pump if faulty.
E31Washer drain timeout. The washer cannot drain in time. Clean the pump filter, clear any kinks in the drain hose, and confirm the drain pump runs.
E42Washer lid lock fault. The control does not sense the lid as closed and locked. Confirm the lid shuts fully and the latch clicks; if the code stays, the lid lock assembly needs replacement.
E45 / E48Washer motor or speed-sensor fault. The drive motor is not reaching the commanded speed or the speed sensor is out of range. The motor, belt, and motor control board need diagnosis; a seized bearing will also trip this.

Dryer Error Codes

Error CodeMeaningDescription & Solution
E1 / E2Dryer thermistor open / shorted. The exhaust thermistor is out of range so the dryer cannot regulate heat. The thermistor and its wiring harness need testing and replacement.
E3Dryer heater / no-heat fault. The dryer runs but does not heat. The heating element, thermal fuse, and high-limit thermostat need testing; a blocked vent is the most common underlying cause and must be cleared first.
E6Dryer motor fault. The drum motor is not running or is drawing excess current. Inspect the drive belt, idler pulley, and blower wheel for a jam, then test the motor and replace if faulty.
